Springport Township Board Meeting
June 13th, 2016

       The Springport Township regular monthly board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Schmidt at 7:00 on the 13th of June.  All board members were present and we had 2 guests.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
       Jeff Steers from the Brooklyn was present, he wanted to let us know about Brooklyn’s local newspaper and its gaining subscriptions and some of the local news it covers.
       The May 9th board minutes were presented and Mitchell moved to accept them, Sebastian supported the motion and it carried.
      Losey gave the treasurer’s report.  General fund balance is $223,162.50, police account balance is $190,345.90, fire operating balance is $144,300.26 and fire equipment is at $5,005.28.  Mitchell moved to accept the report for audit, supported by Sebastian and the motion passed.
Sebastian moved to approve post audit police bills in the amount of $6,105.53, motion supported by Mitchell and it passed.
Motion by Sebastian, supported by Mitchell to approve post audit general fund bills of $113.13, motion carried.
Sebastian moved to pay general fund bills in the amount of $49,304.22, motion supported by Mitchell and it passed unanimously.
Motion by Sebastian to pay police bills of $9,371.11, supported by Mitchell and all board members voted “aye”.
Sebastian moved to pay Fire bills of $17,325.00, Mitchell supported the motion and it carried.
Police Report:
Officers were at the schools for about 25 hours in the month of May. The Memorial Day Parade went well.  Chief Luce will be at a Chief Conference June20-23rd.
Committee Reports:
Police Board will meet in September, June meeting was cancelled.
Planning Commission will meet on July 11th at 6:30.
Fire Board has a meeting on the 20th of June.  Sebastian reported that the Fire Department has a possibility of purchasing some used “Scott Pacs” form the City of Belleville, would it be possible for Springport to purchase the equipment in full and to be paid back later.  Keeler moved to purchase “Scott Pacs” from Belleville if the opportunity arose and be reimbursed for ½ at a later date by Clarence Twp, supported by Sebastian and the motion passed.
Supervisor’s report:  GIS mapping is on the Assessor’s computer, this allows overall view of property and comparisons from previous years.
Unfinished Business:
 There has been no news from JDOT concerning local road repair.
The Township has not heard from White & Hotchkiss in regards to contract with the Village or rewriting ordinances.  Losey has been in contact with them concerning Springport Trailer Fees.
New Business:
 To hire Anderson Printing to fold, stuff and mail tax bills for the township, motion supported by Keeler and it passed. Meeting adjourned at 7:45
