Springport Township Board Meeting

October 8, 2018


Springport Townships regular monthly meeting was called to order at 7:00pm, in the township hall on October 8,, 2018.   

Board members present were Schmidt, Riehle, Mitchell and Losey.  Sebastian was absent. Chief Luce was also present. .

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

County Commissioner-Not present

Public Comment- None

* A motion was made by Mitchell to accept the September 10, 2018 minutes, supported by Schmidt and the motion passed.

Board Member Losey gave the Treasurer’s report.  General Fund has a checking account balance of $311,091.91 Police checking has a balance of $201,480.64 and Fire Operating has a balance of $135,501.34 and Fire Equipment $36,879.23

*Motion to approve the treasurer’s report as printed by Schmidt, supported by Mitchell and it carried.

Budget Amendment- Riehle suggested increasing election wages 101-262-702-000 by $850 and decreasing road construction 101-101-811-000 by $850.

*Motion to approve the budget amendment as suggested by Mitchell, supported by Losey and it carried.

General Fund Post Audit for Approval: $837.56  Police Post Audit for Approval: $9,385.40

*Mitchell moved to pay post audit bills, motion supported by Riehle and it passed unanimously.

General Fund Current Bills for Approval: $14,856.34

Police Current Bills for Approval: $2,952.62

Fire Current Bills for Approval: $NA

*Mitchell moved to pay current bills, motion supported by Losey and it passed unanimously.


Police Report: Luce reported that he attended a “Train the Trainer” workshop so he will be certified to train others on the use of the new 800 radios.  Everyone should be up and operable by the end of October.


Committee Reports:

Road Report- Sebastian was absent

Fire Report- Riehle reported that the fire board is looking into options for a new fire house.  This is still in the beginning stages and grants are being looked at.

Supervisor/Assessor’s Report: Schmidt updated the board on AMAR.  All info requested was sent certified mail  and he is just waiting for reply from the state.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS


  • Server- waiting to hear back from Chris regarding server.

  • Door- Cram Construction should be starting the door this week.  Riehle gave him a materials check in the amount of $713.36 and keys to the front door and interior door.  He does not have a key to the offices.

  • Audit- Copies of the audit were given to each board member.  

    • *Schmidt moved to accept the audit as is, motion supported by Mitchell and it passed unanimously.


  • Ken Powers- Ken has requested to be paid an admin fee of $15 per permit issued by him.  This is the current admin fee charged to each permit. Discussion took place.

*Mitchell moved to pay Ken Powers $15 per permit he issues, motion supported by Schmidt and it passed unanimously.


NEW BUSINESS:

  • Transfers to allocate the 2016 & 2017 personal property tax reimbursements per Nannette

    • Transfer from GF to Police Fund $6200.20, Fire Fund $3,381.93

*Mitchell moved to allocate the 2016 & 2017 personal property tax reimbursements as suggested by Nannette, motion supported by Losey and it passed unanimously.


  • Business cards for inspectors- $250.00- Riehle requested business cards be ordered for inspectors.  The total cost would be around $250.

*Losey moved to purchase business cards for inspectors in the amount of $250, motion supported by Mitchell and it passed unanimously.


  • Telecommunications Permit- Tri-County is installing high speed internet in a small area of the township.  

Riehle moved to accept the Telecommunications Permit from Tri-County, motion supported by Losey and it passed unanimously.



Board Comments: Riehle invited everyone to vote on November 6, 2018
