Springport Township Board Meeting

May 13, 2019


Springport Townships regular monthly meeting was called to order at 7:00pm, in the township hall on May 13, 2019.   

Board members present were Schmidt, Riehle, Mitchell, Marsh and Sebastian. Chief Luce was also present. Also attending was Travis Howell, Brent, Sarah and Piper Lincoln.  

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

County Commissioner-Not present

Public Comment- None

* A motion was made by Sebastian to accept the April 8, 2019 minutes, supported by Mitchell and the motion passed.

Board Member Marsh gave the Treasurer’s report.  General Fund has a checking account balance of $370,503.79 Police checking has a balance of $294,641.80 and Fire Operating has a balance of $198,403.37 and Fire Equipment $37,010.28

*Motion to approve the treasurer’s report for audit by Sebastian, supported by Mitchell and it carried.

Approval of Post Audit Bills:

APPROVAL OF POST AUDIT BILLS;  General Fund:$171.31; Fire NA; Police:$2,798.17  Total Post Audit Bills $2,969.48

*Sebastian moved to pay post audit bills, motion supported by Mitchell and it passed unanimously


Approval of Current Bills:


APPROVAL OF BILLS:  General Fund: $11,481.39;  Fire:NA;  Police: $13,322.02  Total Current Bills  $24,803.41

*Mitchell moved to pay current bills, motion supported by Marsh and it passed unanimously.

Police Report:

-Chief Luce reported that Cain attended driving school

-Chief Luce will be on vacation from 5/15/19-5/27/19

-Travis Howell and Brent Lincoln to be sworn in as Springport Township Police Officers.

Road Report- Contacts at the road commission have been on vacation  

Supervisor/Assessor’s Report:

-Assessing contractor, CSZ Services was supposed to attend the meeting tonight was did not show.

-BSA will be doing treasurer training on May 16th

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

-Township Clean-Up Day will be June 8th from 9am-1pm

Sebastian requested that we get workers as we have in the past.  Discussion took place, Riehle will get 4-6 workers as we have in the past.

NEW BUSINESS:

-Planning Commission met at 6:00pm on 5/13/19.  On the agenda was a request for Don Kidd to operate a reception hall from his property on Kimler Rd.  Discussion took place. A special meeting will be held on June 10th at 6:30pm, Riehle will take care of notices in the paper and to any neighbors within 300ft of Mr. Kidd’s property.
