Springport Township Board Meeting
May 14, 2018
Springport Townships regular monthly meeting was called to order at 7:00pm, in the township hall on May 14, 2018. Board members present were Schmidt, Riehle, Mitchell, Sebastian and Losey.
There were 7 guests present; Chris Wardius, Bill Wardius, Jim Wardius, Shawn Surque (JDOT), Christopher Bolt (JDOT), Sarah Lightner, Officer Cain.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
County Commissioner- Commissioner Lightner reported on the Jackson County Fair concert lineup, a new program Jackson Community Mental Health will be participating in and the animal control/shelter mileage that will be on an upcoming ballot.
Public Comment- Chris and Bill Wardius presented the board with a packet regarding medical cannabis and a medical cannabis grow site proposal.
Christopher Bolt and Shawn Surque from JDOT answered several question from the board regarding the plans for township roads.
* A motion was made by Sebastian to accept the April 9th, 2018, supported by Mitchell and the motion passed.
Board Member Losey gave the Treasurer’s report. General Fund has a checking account balance of $292,856.36 Police checking has a balance of $259,259.04 and Fire Operating has a balance of $159,035.05 and Fire Equipment $36,795.43
*Motion to approve the treasurer’s report as printed by Sebastian, supported by Mitchell and it carried.

Police Post Audit for Approval: $9,891.74
Fire Post Audit: N/A
*Sebastian moved to pay post audit bills, motion supported by Mitchell and it passed unanimously.
General Fund Current Bills for Approval: $12,076.99
Police Current Bills for Approval: $8,290.60
Fire Current Bills for Approval: N/A
*Sebastian moved to pay current bills, motion supported by Mitchell and it passed unanimously.
Police Report: Officer Cain reported that April was a quiet month with nothing major to report. She provided the board with monthly stats
Planning Commission: Did not meet this month
Fire Board: Did not meet this month
*Sebastian moved to approve the blight ordinance amendment, motion supported by Mitchell and it passed unanimously.
Riehle will post the notice of amendment in the paper.
*Mitchell moved to accept the bid for the interior door from Cram Construction, motion supported by Sebastian and it passed unanimously.
Riehle will contact Cram Construction
*Mitchell moved to sign the right of refusal, motion supported by Sebastian and it passed unanimously
*Sebastian moved the hourly pay for ordinance officer be $20.00 per hour, motion supported by Mitchell and it passed unanimously.
Riehle will advertise in the paper and local businesses
