Springport Township Board Minutes
March 9, 2015
The Springport Township Board meeting for March was called to order on the 9th at 7:00 by Supervisor Schmidt. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and all board members were present. We had one guest.
Sebastian moved to accept the February minutes, supported by Mitchell and the motion carried.
Betz gave the treasurer’s report. General fund checking account has a balance of $166,914.42, police account has $204,167.20, Fire account has $126,546.62 and there is $ 65,276.34 in the tax account and CD’s of $52,667.02. Motion by Sebastian, supported by Mitchell to approve treasurer’s report for audit, motion carried.
Sebastian moved to approve post audit police bills of $3,495.66, motion supported by Mitchell and it carried.
Sebastian moved to approve the general fund post audit bills of $426.10, Mitchell supported it, motion carried.
Motion by Sebastian to approve fire post audit bills, Mitchell supported the motion and it passed.
Sebastian moved to pay March general fund bills in the amount of $24,335.85, motion supported by Mitchell and it passed unanimously.
Motion by Sebastian, supported by Mitchell to pay all police bills for a total of $8,546.09, motion carried unanimously.
Sebastian moved to pay fire bills of $19,202.40, supported by Mitchell and it passed.
Police Report: Officer Cain gave the police report in the Chief’s absence. Officers spent about 20 hours at the schools. Officer Locke attended Ethics training class and all officers attended taser re-cert class sponsored by Jackson Police Dept. Keeler moved to table decision for part time raises until the budget meeting on the 23rd, Mitchell supported the motion and it passed. Motion by Sebastian, supported by Mitchell to send Chief Luce to the “Reid Interview & Interrogation Technique” seminar in Mt. Pleasant, April 21-24th for $550.00, motion carried.
Assessors Report: BOR will meet on the 11th and 12 to hear questions, concerns and complaints.
Committee Reports: Police Board did not meet, nor did the Planning Commission. Fire Board will meet on the 16.
Unfinished business: There was no unfinished business except ongoing roads and conditions, we will discuss further on the 23rd.
New Business: Betz moved to accept the bids of cemetery maintenance from Francis Artz for $4,000.00 and the bid from Joann Underhill for hall maintenance for $3,600 for the fiscal year of 2015-16, supported by Sebastian and it carried.
Betz moved to amend fire budget by deducting $265 from runs and increasing salaries by $100.00 and $165.00 to office supplies, supported by Sebastian and it carried.
Sebastian moved to accept Resolutions #1-15 thru 9-15, supported by Mitchell and upon roll call vote in which all members voted “aye”, the Supervisor declared the resolutions accepted.
Sebastian moved to sign the letter of intent from Scott Ambs, Jackson County GIS, to participate in the Jackson County 2015 Aerial Imagery Project, cost to Springport would be $1,172.42, Mitchell supported the motion and it passed.
Board Member Comments: Schmidt will meet with White & Hotchkiss concerning burnt houses after BOR meetings are complete. Meeting adjourned at 7:50 pm.
