Springport Township Board Meeting

     Supervisor called to order the Springport Township Board meeting at 7:00pm on June 8th, 2015, Board members present were Betz, Keeler, Sebastian and Schmidt, Mitchell was absent.  There were 2 guests present at the meeting and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
     County Commissioner’s report was given by S. Lightner.  Jackson County Fair plans are nearly complete and special fair bands for admission and rides are available only before fair week.  County Commissioners have been working on next year’s budget with plans on cutting $600,000.00 from the budget.
     Police report from Officer Truchan, he reported all officers have recently completed firearm training.  Officers spent about 25 hours at the schools in May.  Officers assisted in an evacuation drill with the school where all kids were transported to Western School, procedure went well.  Chief Luce has applied for the Enbridge grant to assist us in purchasing body cameras, Enbridge in currently considering our request.  Memorial Day parade went well without any problems.
      Sebastian moved to accept the Board minutes of May 11th, supported by Betz and the motion carried.
      Betz gave the treasurer’s report.  The general fund account has a balance of $196,320.66; police account has a balance of $141,956.94, fire operating $63,742.57.  Motion by Sebastian to approve the treasurer’s report for audit, supported by Schmidt and it passed.
Motion by Sebastian, supported by Betz to approve post audit police bills in the amount of $7,099.16, motion carried.
Sebastian moved to approve general fund post audit bills of $89.12, supported by Betz and it passed.
Motion by Schmidt to pay general fund bills of $6,533.72, motion supported by Sebastian and it passed unanimously.
Sebastian moved to pay police bills of $6,426.18, supported by Betz and it carried unanimously.
Motion by Sebastian, supported by Betz to approve fire bill of $14,725.00, motion carried.
Betz moved to amend the police budget by increasing the VTPOA Grant (207-000501-100 by $1,800.00, to include remainder of unspent funds from last year’s budget, supported by Sebastian and it carried.
Committee Reports:
Police Administration did not meet.
Planning Commission met but did not have quorum or agenda so meeting was cancelled.  Clerk will prepare a Resolution for the July meeting to change the planning commission to 2 meeting per year and others as needed.
Fire Board will meet on the 15th.  The Township Board would like the Fire Board to possibly address concerns to repeated calls at the same residence and possible solutions.  The fire department installed and additional hydrant at the Rybicki property on Parma Road, when Rybicki installed a new well.
Unfinished Business:
Schmidt will meet with  JDOT Wednesday afternoon to discuss 2015-16 road work within the township.
The title for the 2003 Crown Victoria has been signed and will be forwarded to Jackson Career Center where it was donated for educational purposes.
No new Business.
