Springport Township Board Meeting
August 10, 2015

 

     The August monthly meeting of the Springport Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Schmidt on August 10th, 2013 at 7:00 pm, all Board Members were present except Betz who was absent.  We had one guest.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
      Sebastian moved to accept the minutes of July 13th, 2015, Mitchell supported the motion and it carried.
      Motion by Mitchell to approve the Treasurer’s report for audit, supported by Sebastian and it passed.  General fund has a checking account balance of $ 177,618.14, police account has $127,688.90, $61,681.88 is in the fire account and tax account has a balance of $36,988.76.
Sebastian moved to approve police post audit bills in the amount of $3,379.79, Mitchell supported the motion and it carried.
Mitchell moved to approve general fund post audit bills of $94.38, supported by Sebastian, and the motion passed.
Motion by Mitchell, supported by Sebastian to pay August general fund bills in the amount of %5,531.14, all board members voted “aye”.
Mitchell moved to approve police bills for payment in the amount of $7,678.47, supported by Sebastian and it carried.
Police Report:   The monthly police report was presented by Officer Cain.  The Township police have received $5,000.00 grant money from Jackson Traffic Safety Program and $1,500.00 from Enbridge.  The Enbridge grant will be used towards the purchase of 2 body cameras.  Officer Locke has resigned from our police department due to personal and medical reasons. 
Committee Reports:
Police committee will meet on September 14th at 6:30 pm.
Planning committee did not meet.
Fire Board will meet in September on the 21st.
Unfinished business:
Schmidt will price out  BS&A’s . Net programming for assessing and taxes, we will be purchasing both programs in the near future.
JCDOT has been working on Town and Sibley roads.  Discussion was held concerning Town Road between Parma and Brown and solutions for fixing it.
New Business:  There was no new business.
Board Member Comments:
The sidewalk around the bell tower has been repaired per the DDA Grant and we are currently seeking someone to repair the mortar and bricks in the bell structure.
